A RUBBISH hotline has been set up by Hyndburn Council which wants people to report overflowing and missing litter bins.
Over the last 12 months there have been 49 calls about bin, the environmental services committee was told.
A report was compiled for councillors after complaints from Oswaldtwistle councillor Peter Britcliffe about bins in Union Road.
Councillors heard there were 21 bins in Union Road and two others were being replaced following an inspection. Road sweepers did report damaged or missing bins.
Coun Britcliffe said "Surely if we have an emptying system there should be some sort of system that whoever empties the bins reports back the ones that are missing."
The hotline on 01254 380199 is open daily from 9am until 5pm for requests to remove bulky household waste, and reports, complaints and general inquiries from the public.
The service handles more than 9,500 requests for the removal of bulky household items and more than 1,200 reports of fly tipping every year.
