I AM tracing my family tree and have discovered that at least two of my paternal great aunts spent part of their lives in Accrington. The younger of these sisters, Mrs Lucy Skinner, lived from 1937 to 1952 at 262 Willows Lane.
During these years, she resided with John Alexander Sutcliffe, Annie Sutcliffe and, from 1948, Alan Sutcliffe. I presume that these are husband, wife and son.
I do not know what link there was between her and the Sutcliffes. She may have simply been a lodger, but I would like to think that she was Annie Sutcliffe's mother - making her Alan's grandmother.
Alan Sutcliffe would now be about 70 and, I hope, alive and kicking. If he is still in the Accrington area, I would sincerely like to hear from him.
Alternatively, should any other readers have knowledge of these people they, too, may like to pass on the information.
