A FOUR-year-old boy was injured in an accident with a van in a street where residents are calling for traffic calming measures.
Police said Ali Abdin, of Belford Street, Stoneyholme, Burnley, ran from the offside of the road into the path of a Ford Transit van driven by Mashrafat Khan, of Merton Street, Burnley.
He suffered grazing and a fractured collar bone and was taken to Burnley General Hospital for treatment. Residents in the area have petitioned Burnley Council asking for traffic calming measures in Burns Street, Belford Street, Burleigh Street, Throstle Close and Fold Street.
They express fears that a serious accident could happen in an area where children play.
The petition will be considered at tomorrow's meeting of the council's Planning and Environment Committee.
