A HINDLEY Green company has come out tops in the war on waste.
PPG Industries (UK) Ltd has been awarded Level Three status in the Tidy Britain Group's prestigious business standard scheme.
Tidy Britain estimates over half the nation's street litter comes from mismanaged trade refuse.
The Group aims to make businesses aware and encourage them to improve waste management practice - something at which PPG excels.
Now the plastics' specialists are being presented with a certificate to show they satisfy criteria.
Martin Ainsworth, PPG's environmental engineer, said: "We are proud to have won this award which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the environment and our local community."
People and Places Programme manager Teresa Jennings said: "I am delighted one of our largest companies producing waste in the area is doing so much to improve its surrounding environment.
"Their waste management practices are of a very high standard as well. I hope their example will encourage other companies to join the scheme."
