SPECTATORS at Rainford's Jubilee Cricket Ground were treated to a run feast when Orrell CC visited on Saturday.
Fielding a much-changed side, chairman Phil Carter opened the batting, but once again Aussie Troy Martyn stole the show.
His chanceless 126 was a joy to watch and he was well supported by Carter who made 36. Carden and Mullock also shared in half-century partnerships as Rainford reached 217-6 in their allotted overs to secure maximum batting points.
In reply, Orrell's Steve Tickle led the way. After being dropped off the first ball of the innings he went on to make 89 valuable runs.
But Rainford's bowlers, marshalled by skipper Martyn fought back, with Corden claiming two wickets and the Aussie taking three, to leave Orrell needing 40 off the last eight overs.
A series of dropped catches let the visitors off the hook and with just two overs left Orrell ran out winners by five wickets.
This weekend's visitors are Croston.
