THE atmosphere was electric at the National Grid open evening at Penwortham Substation when local resaidents were given a guided tour of the site.
More than 80 people were treated to a range of electricity demonstrations which were presented by Michael Faraday and Marie Curie played by actors Darryl Boot and Heather Tracy who work for Johnny Ball's Living History od Science company in London.
National Grid Public Relations Officer Stuart Larque said: "The open days are aimed at showing the important part engineering plays in life, and to encourage more people to think about a career in engineering."
