A TOP police chief has applauded the public's help in the Citizen-backed Drive Out Drugs campaign.
In just two weeks the campaign hotlines, set up by the Citizen's sister publication the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, have attracted 40 callers from the Blackburn, Darwen, Rossendale, Burnley, Ribble Valley and Pendle areas.
The hotlines, which give advice to about drug abuse and offer callers the chance to 'shop' dealers, are made anonymously and in confidence.
Usually, just 44 drug-related calls are received by the county's police force each month. DC Charlie Sykes, who oversees the hotlines, said: "The campaign has certainly had an impact. Some callers have given us what appears to be good quality, detailed information."
