ROAD safety advice is on the cards, literally, for road users after a bobby's brainwave was put into print.
The latest campaign to cut down accidents on Preston's roads involves a series of advice cards which it's hoped will drive home safety messages to motorists.
It's all the idea of Lea-based PC Dave Taylor, who after 10 years as a road safety officer felt something had to be done.
He said: "I've seen some horrific accidents on the streets of Preston and we were looking at ways of educating the public into safer driving.
"These cards are designed to offer basic road safety advice to members of the public in a friendly fashion.
"They are credit card sized and cover subjects such as speed, seat belts, accidents, lights and drink driving as well as the Green Cross Code for the children."
The six-month trial will see cards available at police stations throughout Preston, and if successful could be extended across the county. Road Safety Officers will also hand them out free to motorists and pedestrians.
Central Division Superintendent Mike Tonge said: "It's a very, very good idea. The workforce knows what the problems are and can identify possible solutions."
