THE green light was given by government officials for the construction of the M65 southern bypass.
The decision was hailed as "great news" which would help East Lancashire towns recover from the recession.
Announcing the decision, the minister for roads and traffic, Kenneth Carlisle, said the road would extend the fast route from Calder Valley towns to the M6.
