SMART students at Carmel College were in celebratory mood after helping the college achieve its best ever A Level result figures.
The college in Prescot Road featured highly in last year's League Tables when it achieved the best results for Catholic Sixth Form Colleges in the country. However, this year's figures are even better with an overall pass rate of 93 per cent (the national average pass rate is 87 per cent) and 36 per cent achieving A or B grades.
Staff have attributed the college's success to outstanding students and teachers and also hailed their individual student monitoring which encourages and supports students to achieve high target grades.
Among the best results this year were five students who achieved five grade A's and 14 who achieved four grade A's and student, Siobhan Sheils achieved one of the top five marks in the country for Media Studies.
