TWO caring soldiers currently serving in St Helens are preparing to brave searing temperatures when they undertake a gruelling triathlon on the Spanish island of Lanzarote to raise money for charity.
The pair, Regimental Sergeant Major Graham Markham and WO2 Steven Lavis are regular army soldiers serving with the Territorial Army unit 103 Regiment Royal Artillery (V), based in Prescot Road, and plan to do the triathlon in aid of the David Lewis Organisation, a Cheshire-based charity for epilepsy sufferers.
The national event, which takes place next January, will see servicemen and women from across the country travel to take part and Graham (37) and 31 year old Steven's punishing schedule will include a 25 mile cycle, one mile swim and a 6.2 mile run.
They are now dividing their time between a rigorous training schedule and collecting sponsors for the trip but both are pictured here (Graham on left) taking time out to visit the David Lewis Organisation in Alderley Edge, where 400 adults and children are resident.
IF you would like to sponsor Graham and Steven, you can contact them at the barracks on St Helens 22255 or send donations to 103 Regiment RA, Jubilee Barracks, Prescot Road, St Helens WA10 3UB.
