SPLASH FM, Blackpool's hopeful new radio station, is tuning up its campaign to get a fully operational licence
On the last day of the station's short 28-day licence, the team of unpaid DJs held their own roadshow in the centre of the town as a huge party to say thank-you to listeners and supporters.
Now the station's DJs are waiting at the station to collect letters of support in order to compile enough backing to become full-timers on the airwaves.
DJ Johnny Fresh says he's been astounded by the support the station has recieved and is hopeful that soon enough the station will be back in town.
He said: "We've had thousands of letters and we'll send everything we get to the Radio Authority.
"Hopefully they'll see how popular we are and give us a licence. I'm hoping to get another 28-day licence in December."
The station, above The West Coast Rock Cafe in the centre of Blackpool, played mostly commercial and dance music although it catered for all the resort's musical tastes.
All the 24 DJs worked in bars and clubs in the area and knew what people wanted to listen to.
Now, the station, which concentrated on being primarily for the people of the town, is offering anyone with an interest in music to come along and get involved.
Johnny Fresh said: "We want people with music experience to come and join the team.
"We will also be looking for further sponsors and advertisers to join us, so if anyone's interested contact me on (0973) 818155."
