YET again, heads teachers in Burnley are refusing to publish their schools' GCSE results with grades.
All they will release is a list of pupils who got A to G grades, which is effectively a list of all the pupils who sat the exam.
Why do they do this? To spare the blushes of the schools that got low grades, of course. And also to stop the public making comparisons.
What flaming arrogance.
Schools belong to the public and are funded by them. And they ought to be answerable to the public. Otherwise, it's just like a firm refusing to tell its shareholders its results.
This system of a cosy coterie by which heads cover up the results - and, conveniently for them, the performance of their teachers - should be banned.
Who do they think they are?
