SUPER student Lucy Haken is celebrating an amazing 10 A* GCSE grades - but reckons the secret of her success has nothing to do with revision.

She has one of the best pass rates in the country and says it's down to two years of continuous hard work, not just revision.

Lucy, 16, of Tor View Road, Haslingden, said after picking up her results at Haslingden High School: "I didn't even revise half as much as some people I know.

"I did apply myself, but that's been over two years. My advice to other people is to work hard but also play hard. You have to create time for yourself and enjoy things other than school work."

Lucy intends to stay on at Haslingden High where she will do science and English A-levels.

But she says she has no idea what she wants to do for a career as long as it's "not boring."

Proud mum Dot, a Blackburn-based home tuition teacher said: "She's done excellent but to be honest, I don't know where she gets it from.

"I never excelled at school and neither did my husband, Peter, until later on. But Lucy has always had something special about her."

Haslingden High head Nigel Jepson, added: "I'm proud of all the students and I'm very proud of Lucy....you just can't get better than that."
