NIGEL Gleghorn has vowed to fight his way back into Chris Waddle's Turf Moor plans.
A Clarets regular under Adrian Heath last season, the ex-Burnley skipper has found himself out in the cold as Waddle re-vamps the midfield department.
Gleghorn said: "I cannot say it doesn't hurt to be left out because it does.
"But I have to accept it is all part and parcel of football and I'm philosophical about my situation.
"You go either of two ways in a situation like this.
"You either give it up or give it a big go and try and get back in the reckoning.
"I've never quit in my life and I'm not going to start now."
It is first time in 10 years that the football season has kicked-off without Gleghorn.
He added: "I may only be playing in the reserves but I will give it 110 per cent because I work for Burnley. That is my job.
"I still feel I've got a lot to offer as a footballer and my attitude will be just the same whether I'm playing against Blackpool or Lincoln Reserves. "Obviously I don't like to be in the reserves, no footballer does.
"But I will battle back and, in my own mind, I'm doubly determined to get back into the first team frame because I do not want to leave Burnley.
"There is no way I am going to sit around and sulk. You only hurt yourself by doing that.
"It seems I'm way down the pecking order at present but that does not stop me fighting really hard to get my place back.
"Football is my life and I enjoy the game. I will give it my best shot to get back into Chris Waddle's plans and to try and help Burnley back to Division One."
TIckets for the forthcoming League games against Bristol Rovers (Aug 30) and Oldham Athletic (Sep 2) are currently on sale from the Turf Moor ticket office at the usual prices.
Fans should note that the ticket office will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday.
