ORGANISERS of Blackburn Lions' Gala want to change the date of their annual event after rain washed out the latest show.
The gala is traditionally held on August Bank Holiday weekend, and bad weather has affected every gala except one for a decade.
Torrential downpours on Saturday resulted in only 300 out of the expected 5,000 visitors turning out for the show, forcing many stalls to pack up at 2pm.
Norman Walker, past district governor of the Lions, said: "Saturday was a total wash-out.
"It rained incessantly. We are looking to change the date to avoid another wash-out."
Blackburn Lions are looking to change the gala date to the first week in July or August , but no move will be made without the public's consent.
