MIDFIELDER Michael Williams is out of tomorrow's Coca-Cola Cup tie against Lincoln City at Turf Moor.
Williams was stretchered off late in the first half of Burnley's 1-0 defeat at Southend United and was rushed to hospital for X-Rays.
Physio Andy Jones confirmed today: "He is very sore but, thankfully, there is no break."
Williams - a summer signing from Sheffield Wednesday - was under intensive treatment at Turf Moor today but he could face a two week injury lay-off.
Meantime, player-manager Chris Waddle has issued a rallying call to the Burnley faithful: "We will get it right."
Saturday's narrow reverse at Roots Hall leaves Burnley without a goal and just a single point from their first three League matches.
But Waddle said: "We did not perform to our full capabilities at Southend but I can assure the fans that we are absolutely determined to get it right.
"We are not creating enough in front of goal but I'd just ask our fans to be patient.
"Patience is a bad word in football, I know, but we just need time to get things right. "Obviously I was disappointed to lose because I thought we might have had a point out of the game.
"Their goalkeeper (Royce) made a couple of good saves to keep us out in the second half.
"If we are not scoring goals then it puts pressure on everybody and that is the case at present. We just need that goal to get us up and running.
Waddle, who was one of the three Burnley substitutes, added: "I am nearing 100 per cent fitness now and I hope to be able to get back involved from the start soon.
"We conceded a very scrappy goal and that left us with a lot to do.
"I thought our supporters were brilliant again. There was nearly a 1,000 of them down at Southend and they backed us all the way.
"If it was based on support then we would be top of the league. The fans at Burnley deserve the best and we want to try and deliver that success to them.
"Our target is to get out of this division - and we will do everything in our power to do that."
