PLAYMAKER Damian Matthew could get the nod for tonight's Coca-Cola Cup joust with Lincoln City at Turf Moor.
Burnley tackle the second leg tie all square at 1-1 after a bruising first leg tie at Sincil Bank a fortnight ago.
And with Michael Williams out of the frame with ankle trouble, player-manager Chris Waddle could turn to Matthew to fill the vacant midfield berth.
Waddle said: "When you are not scoring goals then people start doubting. But doubt is not a problem with my players. There is plenty of belief in our side.
"I am not going to start pointing the finger at Andy Cooke and Paul Barnes because we are not creating enough chances for them to feed off.
"Damian Matthew is in my thoughts but I've a number of options open to me in the midfield and I will announce the team before kick-off. "But tonight gives us a great opportunity to get through to the second round and a plum draw against a Premiership team.
"The main priority is a sound victory over Lincoln and to get some goals in the bank.
"I really do think that could kick-start the whole season and give everybody a lift.
"I am convinced that things will click in time, we will just have to be a little bit patient. We are definitely a more resilient side than last season, and the defence have proved that so far, although we leaked a sloppy goal at Southend."
Waddle added: "We know that Lincoln will be tough and resilient, but it is our job to overcome that and I know that my players can. We aim to finish the job."
