DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a 13-year-old Burnley girl are following up new leads following a good response from the public for information.
But they still want to hear from a man who was with the attacker shortly before the late night Friday assault near Scott Park, Burnley.
The terrified victim was dragged into a garden and raped.
After managing to break free she was chased down Scott Park Road, caught and pushed into a driveway where a second attempted sexual assault took place.
The girl was with two girlfriends when they were approached by two men.
The rapist was about 17, about 5ft 9ins tall, with short blond hair spiky on the top.
He wore cream jeans and a white T-shirt with a Reebok logo in red lettering on the front.
The man with him is about 30 with long, dark untidy hair possibly in a ponytail. He left with the other girls.
Detective Inspector Colin Barton said: "We have had a number of calls from the public in response to our appeals for information.
"But the second man has not yet come forward. He can help our inquiries and we would very much like to talk to him.''
Anyone with any information can contact Burnley CID on 01282-425001, in strict confidence.
