BLACKBURN must be the most environmentally-unfriendly town in the kingdom.
Every bus, every day has to play ring o' roses on the Boulevard (above). How much wasted petrol does this add up to in a day?
The buses wait at their stands with their engines running, in some cases, for more than 10 minutes.
Cars wishing to go to the station via the A666 have to go all round the town to get there, thus adding to the already congested town centre and adding to the pollution.
We were unable to buy a Euro-rail card at the station and were advised to go to Manchester. Fortunately, we got one at Bolton in a few minutes from a very pleasant, helpful official.
