REGARDING your article (LET, August 28) on the lorry noise petition in the Shadsworth Road/Intack areas of Blackburn, I feel sorry for the residents.
But has Martin Baybutt, who has lived there for 20 years, together with the other residents of Shadsworth Road, not realised that it was they themselves who liked the area and chose to purchase property on two major roads?
What do they expect? Surely, just because the M65 is about to open, it will not take away the lorries.
Why on earth did Mr Baybutt purchase a shop/dwelling within 20 yards of a traffic light-controlled crossroads if he was expecting to have a quiet life?
There really is nowt queerer than folk.
E A CONNELL (Mr), Branch Road, Mellor Brook, Blackburn.
