THE "experts" who thought up the excuses to cut costs, mentioned in your article "Bright idea to cut energy means dim street lights" (LET, August 27), gave me the best laugh I've had for ages.
They should write for Comic Cuts.
They want the lights dimmed to:
Protect the countryside.
Cut down on unhealthy carbon monoxide emissions.
Stop lighting up private properties (I thought security lighting was being advocated).
Stop light pollution from obscuring the night sky (doesn't matter if you can't see where you are going).
Decrease the threat to plants and wildlife.
I ask you - whatever next?
