A NEW fishing club has opened...on WATERY Lane!

The impressive Newrad Fisheries Club lodge in Darwen cost £27,500 and was helped with a £7,000 Lottery cheque, which was presented to the club at the opening.

More than 60 anglers gathered for the ceremony and councillors David and Karimeh Foster, who backed the scheme to give a new lease of life to the former mill lodge, cut the ribbon.

The new lodge has been specially designed for disabled anglers and the site was nothing more than a "mud bath" before it was transformed.

The lodge will operate on a day ticket basis. Tickets are available from the Angler's Den, Blackburn Road, Darwen.
