A HAT-TRICK from goal-den boy Tony Ellis signalled a remarkable fightback for Pool at Wrexham on Tuesday night (September 2).
His three goals in the space of 15 minutes spurred the visitors on to a memorable 3-4 victory after they trailed 3-0 early in the second half and looked favourites to return home empty-handed.
Injury problems led to a shake-up in the team - even manager Nigel Worthington had to pull on his boots when left back Anton Rogan was sidelined with a calf strain - and it showed in the first half.
Gareth Owen and Wayne Phillips grabbed two first half goals for Wrexham, who themselves overturned a 3-0 deficit at Bloomfield Road last season.
And when Dean Spink added to the tally on 51 minutes with a left-foot volley from 15 yards, few would have bet against the home side.
That man Ellis changed all that 11 minutes later and the roles quickly reversed as Wrexham heads went down and Pool were quick to catch them on the break.
The striker grabbed a second on 69 minutes, finishing the job seven minutes later.
And with the Seasiders displaying a new-found energy it was no surprise when Mark Bonner popped up eight minutes from time to fire home from 25 yards out.
His shot clipped the underside of the bar before settling high and to the left of Andy Marriott.
The win means Blackpool climb to 13th in the table.
