PRINCESS Diana, who loved to send flowers to others, has been honoured with flowers across the Fylde.
Tributes have been laid by residents and holidaymakers at Blackpool and Fylde Town Halls and Poulton Civic Centre.
In addition, special areas have been earmarked for laying flowers including Thornton Lecture Hall and a raised bed on the corner of Nutter Road and Victoria Road West in Cleveleys. Those who want to record more lasting tributes are being invited to sign books of condolences at each of the three town halls and the council area office in Cleveleys.
St John's C of E Church, opposite the Winter Gardens, is open all week for people to offer a prayer, sign the book of condolence or place flowers, and a service of remembrance is planned for September 14 at 3pm.
Wyre Mayor Leonard Jolley has written to the Prince of Wales on behalf of the borough to express his sympathies.
He added: "Diana's warmth and compassion brought comfort and joy to many and few will remain untouched by her death."
Fylde Council has also sent a letter expressing condolences.
A two-minute silence will be observed at in the region 11am on Saturday (September 6) and shops leisure facilities will be closed until 2pm, although the Illuminations will shine as usual in the evening.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach will open its gates at 1pm as will First Leisure attractions, Blackpool Tower, the piers, the SeaLife Centre and the Winter Gardens.
Following suit will be most shops including Marks and Spencer and all Co-op's Late Shop convenience stores, pharmacies and hypermarkets.
Blackpool FC's match with Carlisle has been rearranged for Sunday, kick-off 3pm.
