Clock Face Miners 52 Crosfields A nil THREE tries in 10 minutes by winger Jimmy Crooks set the pattern for this game, as Clock Face swept aside their Division Five opponents.
The first came after the ball was swept across the field, ending with Crooks going in at the corner, and Paul Cooney landing a touchline conversion. The second was similar and the third was made by Tony Cooper. His break was stopped just short of th'e line, he passed out of the tackle to the visitors wingman, but Crooks stole the ball from him, reached out and scored.
The visitors had no answer to Clock's continual pressure, and rarely threatened their line, and a poor tackle on Billy Greenall allowed him to score Clock's next try under the posts, Cooney converting.
Clock extended their lead just before half time when after a 60 metre break by Crooks the ball eventually found its way to Paul Cooney who scored under the posts. Forward Colin Stout opened the scoring in the second half before full-back David Fairclough made a 75 metre break before handing onto winger Gary Johnson to score behind the posts. There was no holding Clock now, as man of the match Tony Cooper laid on the last two tries, his break, then pass to Paul Cooney led to Steven Hayes going over. Then a 50-metre break by him saw him pass to the supporting Paul Cooney who converted his own try.
