A TRIO of penalties from winger Winston Sarsfield was scant reward for Leigh MR.
They battled hard against Lock Lane before going down 18-6.
Three men were sent off: both Castleford props and MR hooker Ian Sanderson.
It hardly helped the flow of the game, although there were some hard, driving runs from Leigh MoM Tony Dowling, a good defensive effort from full-back Peter Sharp and non-stop effort from packmen Lee Stretch and Lee Lomax.
Sadly, the ball was too easily lost in the tackle.
Sub forward Andrew Webster added fuel to MR's attacking fire and flair, Damien Jackson looked good in Miners' best spell, Darren Mort added spark and the best chance fell to Carl Jones - haring for the line and called back on a forward pass.
Miners will be looking for better things when they face Oldham St Anne's at Twist Lane on Saturday (2.30pm).
