NEWLY named Lancashire Hawks kick off the season with a new consignment of foreign legions this weekend.
Two Canadian forwards and a Finnish defender have joined the ranks at Blackburn Arena and are set to make their home debuts against Kingston in the Autumn Cup on Sunday (6pm).
All three Adrian Lomonaco, 22, Jeff Daniels, 25, and Mikka Pyynnonen, 30, are regarded as real scoops for the ice hockey club.
Lomonaco made a name for himself in the junior leagues in Toronto where he score 97 goals and 99 assists in just 96 games. Last season he played for Danish club Vojens.
Daniels was spotted by Hawks officials on a scouting mission in North America while defenceman Pyynnonen has spent the last six years in the Finnish Elite League - regarded as the toughest in Europe.
With Lee Cowmeadow rejoining the club and goal tender Barry Hollyhead coming from Telford and Michael Lindsley signed from Durham, Hawks officials have had a busy close season.
Player/coach Jim Pennycook said: "We have put a lot of work in and are delighted with the signing of our imports. And with the arrival of the other new names we are very confident for the coming season."
Ticket prices for Sunday's clash are adults £6, children £4, family ticket £18.
