TWIN strike star Keith Evans was delighted with Leigh RMI's 3-0 win at Spennymoor.
But he was disappointed with his own contribution!
Evans paid tribute to a solid team effort, especially the defence in the first half-hour when the North East side were on top.
"It was vital we didn't concede in the opening stages and our defence stood up to the task," said Evans, who has now hit the target three times in as many matches.
"We dominated the second half and should have had half a dozen. I was the chief culprit.
"But not many clubs will go up there and win so convincingly."
ATHERTON LR'S interest in the FA Cup ended in a 1-0 defeat at Hucknall in Nottinghamshire.
"We lacked heart and we lacked commitment," fumed manager Gerry Luczka. "They were not a particularly good side but we were bad on the day."
In midweek LR made Kidsgrove Athletic battle all the way in a 3-2 defeat, the goals from Nick Harrison and Peter McRae. David Hamilton was sent off with two from Athletic.
Luczka was full of praise for his young side. "They came of age tonight," he said.
LR U18s side had a resounding 5-0 win over Leigh RMI in the first round of the FA Youth Cup with goals from Simon Colley 2, Mark Mather, Steve Cunningham and Sarooz Naraghin.
ATHERTON COLLS crashed out of the FA Cup, losing 2-1 to Maine Road in the preliminary round.
Colls, who always looked suspect at the back, fell for sucker punches and rarely threatened.
Simon O'Brien pulled one back three minutes from time after Paul Crook had missed a penalty.
The defeat followed a 1-1 draw with Glossop North End, Steve Oliver getting the early goal with a glorious strike.
