AN intrepid father-of-two is getting ready to take up one of the biggest challenges of his life - in aid of a worthy cause.
For on Feb 6 next year, John Kelly will be joining 200 other people to take part in the Himalayan Challenge, and he will be raising money for Whizz Kidz the charity for non-mobile children.
The group will be trekking for five days over the Himalayas, climbing to 14,000 ft, and they'll be completing their challenge in the extremes of the Himalayan winter.
John (41) of Headley Close, St Helens, told the Star: "I am taking this challenge very seriously because I want to raise as much money as I can to benefit these children. I know that I will have to be very fit so the next six months will be taken up with hard training."
John, a national account sales manager for a Manchester company, is completing the trek to raise money to buy mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, trikes and walking frames for disabled children.
He has pledged to raise £3,000 and is appealing to local companies and individuals to help to reach his target.
IF you can help John contact him on 0467 357667, or 01744 752601.
