THIRTY motorists throughout Bury were arrested by police during the annual summer clampdown on drink-driving.
The division had the lowest number of arrests throughout Greater Manchester during the drink-drive campaign between June 30 and August 3.
Police patrols in the Bury area were stepped up during the summer drink-drive operation.
Bury's figure of 30 arrests include two who were detained following accidents.
Throughout Greater Manchester as a whole, police made a total of 639 arrests.
Sgt Martin Greenwood of Bury police divisional traffic unit said: "We are pleased with our low figure as it reflects people in Bury are taking heed of the 'don't drink and drive' message.
"But this is an ongoing campaign throughout the twelve months of the year and we hope we can reduce the figures even more."
