A 63-YEAR-OLD former Radcliffe man was jailed for five-and-a-half years at Bolton Crown Court on Tuesday (August 26).
Rodney Todd, whose address was given as a Manchester bail hostel but who previously lived in Grosvenor Street, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to 22 charges of committing indecency with young girls aged around seven who visited his home. In some cases Todd had offered the girls money to perform sexual acts with him, Michael Goldwater, prosecuting, stated.
When the offences came to light Todd told police he was ashamed of himself but had been unable to control himself at the time of the offences. Judge Peter Lakin said it was an extremely serious case and a gross breach of trust. In fixing the sentence, the judge said he had taken into account Todd's early pleas of guilty and his age.
He ordered that on completion of his sentence Todd should remain under supervision.
