POLICE have issued a warning about a bogus 'good samaritan' (writes Malcolm Ryding).
It comes after a 77 years-old Atherton woman had her hand bag snatched while being given a lift to hospital to see her 'injured son'.
The man who gave her the lift in a five-door maroon Escort is described as: white, 5'5", aged 45-55, grey bushy hair and thick moustache.
He snatched the lady's handbag and drove off when she got out of the car at Bolton Royal Hospital.
The stranded woman later discovered that her son wasn't a hospital patient.
DCI Mike Whiting at Leigh Police said the man knew a great deal about the lady and the Walton Street area.
"This offence highlights the care need when officials call at your door. People must check and double check the credentials of anyone who calls at the door."
He added: "The person who did this is someone who could be quite dangerous."
Anyone with information is asked to phone 061-856-7251.
