A FORMER Burnley schoolboy is the new controller of BBC 1.
Peter Salmon, aged 41, attended St Theodore's High School and Warwick University before making a career in broadcasting.
His job means swapping the Rover's Return for the Queen Vic as his 'local' as he rejoins the BBC from Granada, where he was director of programmes.
His television success have included Cutting Edge, Secret Lives and Channel 4 News.
Mr Salmon said: "BBC 1 is a cornerstone of British popular culture with the richest and broadest programme range of any channel in the world.
"The challenge of leading it forward into the 21st century is an unmissable opportunity."
