A TOP Morecambe police investigator has been appointed head of Lancashire Constabulary's policy unit.
Det Supt Graham Gooch, who was recently based in the resort, has been chosen to head the newly created position which replaces the old policy and criminal justice support departments. He explained: "One of the areas of responsibility will be to look at how we will implement new statutes. I will also be responsible for interpreting and predicting the importance and impact of future legislation for the Force, including European legislation."
Mr Gooch is currently studying law at the University of Central Lancashire.
