BLACKPOOL slumped to their second away defeat of the season with a poor performance against Bournemouth on Saturday (August 30), losing 2-0.
After the elation of toppling giants Manchester City, it was back to the old story of missed chances and a below-par performance by the Seasiders which even the introduction of useful looking new boy Junior Bent, after 53 minutes, could not alter.
The first goal came from the Cherries after 31 minutes as the ball was played back to Graeme Tomlinson 12 yards out and he had no hesitation in firing it into the back of the net.
The Seasiders managed to keep the deficit to one goal by half time and, just five minutes into the second half, Blackpool's best chance fell to Brabin whose on-target header was snatched from the air by keeper Jimmy Glass. But Pool created few other openings and the home side inevitably snatched a second with 12 minutes to go. John O'Neill played a square ball to Steve Robinson who placed his shot under Banks to shoot his side to the top of the second division table.
Looking decidedly sombre as their team sank further towards the wrong end of the table, Blackpool fans will have been hoping that, in the league at least, things can only get better.
