BURNLEY market will be closed during Princess Diana's funeral service after all, following a change of heart from traders.
Yesterday, the council announced the market hall would open normally after stallholders failed to agree a common policy and some threatened to sue the council if it imposed a Saturday morning shut-down.
But after a re-think, traders contacted the town hall to say they wanted a period of closure to respect the occasion.
Now the market hall will be closed from 10.45am to 12.15pm.
Council officers say they expect the same times to apply at the outdoor market.
Both Rawtenstall and Bacup markets will be open but some stalls will be closed. There will be a minute's silence observed.
