A CHARITY train trip is back on track to help homeless children.
The successful "St James's Day Tripper" charter train, which helped the Blackburn church raise funds for a variety of church developments, has been called back into service to help a nationwide cause.
The St James's train trips stopped last November with the silver jubilee excursion but a plan to run another this year has given the Railway Children charity a light at the end of the tunnel.
Railway stations act as magnets for many homeless children and the charity, launched in May 1995, works in partnership with existing street children's projects.
The Railway Children operation is run by rail staff, both past and present, along with rail enthusiasts who all give their time freely.
The 1997 trip, titled "The Railway Children Express", is set to leave East Lancashire on Sunday, November 15 heading for London.
Travellers will have a seven-hour stay in the capital and tickets are priced at £25 for adults and £12.50 for children.
The former St James's day tripper team is looking forward to again helping out. More information and bookings can be obtained from Ian Stocks on 01254 667803.
