AEROSPACE firms from East Lancashire are turning their attentions offshore.
Several local companies are this week exhibiting at a major exhibition in Aberdeen, aimed at the gas and oil industries.
The firms are represented under the Consortium of Lancashire Aerospace banner and will be trying to show potential customers that their aerospace skills are equally suited to the offshore industry.
Chairman Dennis Mendoros said the venture north was aimed at helping local aerospace firms diversify.
"From the aspect of precision engineering and the production of components which will stand up to the harshest conditions, the cross-over in technologies is pronounced," said CLA chairman Dennis Mendoros.
"The response from our visit to Offshore Europe two years ago was excellent. This time we have taken more stand space and will be aiming for an even greater impact."
Local companies taking part include Stanworth Engineers of Burnley and PDS (CNC) Engineering of Nelson. The Consortium will also be promoting the services of its other members.
It is the second time that the consortium, supported by Lancashire County Council, has taken a stand at the bi-annual exhibition.
The Consortium also organised appearances at the Farnborough and Paris air shows.
