IT WAS a real family affair in more ways than one when Andrew Priestley married Charlotte Ormrod at Christ Church, Colne, on Saturday.

The ceremony was carried out by Andrew's father, the Rev John Priestley, ( above with the newly weds) and his sister who is also an ordained minister, the Rev Rosemary Priestley, gave a reading during the ceremony.

Mr Priestley senior, a Queen's Chaplain who had met Princess Diana, said her funeral did not affect the joy of the occasion. "Diana wouldn't have wanted it to affect the service in any way," he said. Miss Ormrod, a pharmacist at Burnley General Hospital, is the daughter of County Councillor Tim and Pendle councillor Dorothy Ormrod, of Wackersall Road, Colne.

The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by bridesmaids Lisa Bevington and Penny Woodgate. Best men were Andrew Foulds and Martin Roberts and the ushers were Warren Prentice and Sarah Ashworth.

Reception was held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, and the couple are to honeymoon in Africa.
