WORKERS at the factory producing Elton John's Diana tribute disc were today bracing themselves to start work on an album in her honour.

A master tape of the Westminster Abbey funeral service was being rushed to the PolyGram site in Blackburn to be made into compact discs.

The joint BBC and PolyGram venture will feature the whole 45-minute service, including Earl Spencer's tribute and the single Candle In The Wind.

Sleeve notes will contain the order of service and a complete text.

Music tracks will include the hymn I Vow To Thee My Country, also sung at Diana's wedding to Prince Charles.

It is understood the Spencer family will be asked for permission before the disc is released on Tuesday.

A spokesman at the PolyGram plant - one of Europe's largest CD manufacturing facilities - said there were conflicting reports of a production run of between 100,000 and 1 million copies.

He added: "We do not know for sure how many copies will be produced and when it will be released."
