A 53-year-old man was led to safety after a blaze gutted the second floor of a house on Eardley Road in Heysham.
The man lay unconscious in a first floor bedroom when he was pulled from the raging fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters say an investigation is under way to discover the cause of the fire which is being treated as suspicious.
Sub officer Leo Loughrey said it took them nearly two hours to extinguish the flames.
