SUPER striker Jonathan Macken (right) has been voted the first Citizen Player of the Month for the 1997-98 season.
Supporters nominated the 19-year-old, who has been an ever present and scored two goals already this season, just ahead of Mark Rankine and Colin Murdock.
The highly rated forward has become a fans favourite ever since his £250,000 move to Preston North End from Premiership giants Manchester United.
Tom Parker, the Citizen's Deepdale correspondant, said: "Macken has played a major role in North End's four home victories so far this season. He's a good player."
Macken will be presented with his August award before the home game against Walsall on Saturday (September 13).
