POLLUTION and traffic chaos are unwanted snowdome spin-offs claim anti-Xanadu campaigners.
Although the majority of people in the region are backing the futuristic plans for a £160m leisure complex, not everyone wants a 250 feet high artificial ski slope in their back yard.
Green Party regional agent Chris Maile this week gave a 'trees not skis' warning of health dangers the plan presented.
On Monday at Leigh Cricket Club he told protesters:"The community desperately needs more leisure facilities, especially for the young.
"It needs sports, swimming and social facilities but what is not required are expensive facilities the local community could not afford to us.
"Facilities which will become the biggest generator of cancer and asthma causing pollutants such as PM10s in the region.
"I have been involved in many campaigns but never have I experienced the strength of feelings being generated by the local community as they are here in Leigh.
"I am proud to be associated with that community and its opposition to this scheme."
