I HAVE tried, unsuccessfully, to borrow a book from Ribble Valley Council called 'Cancer Epidemiology in Coal Tar, Pitch and Volatile and Associated Industries.'
Could I ask, if any of your readers have a copy, that I might borrow, would they get in touch?
It is published by the Health and Safety Executive's Science and Environmental Section, and written by M P Standing.
I was told about it by a contact at Sheffield who has begun legal proceedings, he says - on the strength of the information on phenols - against a 'bad neighbour' industry.
Since phenols are a common ingredient, I understand, of both Cemfuel and tar processes, I would have thought the council and representatives of the Grammar School ward, and Castle Cement and Tarmac Liaison Committees would have had copies, but apparently not.
I hope your readers can help.
