A WORKER was killed when he fell from scaffolding on a Blackburn industrial estate.
Edward O'Neil, 23, from Dudley, West Midlands, was working at an industrial unit run by Rectella on the Roman Road industrial estate.
Mr O'Neil is believed to have died instantly.
Rectella's technical services director Barry Moorhouse said Mr O'Neil was installing racking inside the unit, which is not currently in use, when the accident happened.
"We are reviewing how it happened to see if anything could be done to prevent something similar happening in the future," he said.
"As it stands at the moment there is no indication of negligence. It looks like it was just an awful accident."
He added that the Health and Safety Executive had been informed of the accident.
Rectella, which is the UK's largest independent manufacturer of ready-made curtains, bedding and soft furnishings, is planning to move its two North West operations on to a single site at Roman Road by next year.
