Ron's golden trumpet SEEMS they just can't get enough of the golden trumpet of Ron Jackson and the impeccable mainstream jazz and evergreen standards which flow from his fellow band members.
At almost 74 - but looking 20 years younger - Sutton's Ron is still packing 'em in at venues around the the area and outlying regions. He attributes his stamina and eternal youth to hitting those top notes for about 60 years, starting as a kid with a church band.
After a hectic spell (performing at Llangollen, Chester and on Dee cruise boats) the Ron Jackson Band makes a return visit, by popular demand, to the Abbey Hotel, Hard Lane, St Helens, on Wednesday, Sept 17 (8.30pm).
Last time, the Abbey was packed to the gunnels, mainly by those remembering the trumpet maestro (who also performs at regular Tuesday night gigs in Sutton Cricket Club) from his Co-op Ballroom days.
