MORE than a dozen gipsy caravans have descended on Porritt Way in Ramsbottom.

Bury Council are now seeking a eviction notice through the courts to serve on the travellers this week.

Earlier this week Ramsbottom police were inundated with calls from concerned residents, but no actual criminal offences have been reported, though some members of the public complained of litter being through on to the nearby play area.

Mr Alan Freer the borough environmental services officer said: "We have received no complaints but we are to serve an eviction notice as they are on council land."
