THE hunt for a bone marrow match for Aimee Read will begin in Bury this week.
Five-year-old Aimee from Moorcroft in Edenfield has leukaemia and a bone marrow transplant is her only hope for survival.
A public information evening about bone marrow screening will be held on Wednesday (Sept 10) at Castle Leisure Centre at 8pm.
There will be a further information evening on Wednesday, September 17, at Ramsbottom Working Men's Club at 8pm.
Aimee will be at both meetings with her mum Wendy.
Local people who have already been donors will be on hand to explain exactly what is involved.
The dates for a mass screening session, where a small blood sample will be taken, are Sunday, September 28, from 2-5pm at Louise Brooks Health Centre in Bury and Wednesday, October 15, between 7pm and 10pm at Ramsbottom Working Men's Club. For details call Steve Joyce on: 0161 795 9152 or attend on the night.
