RAINFORD High pupil Edmund Leary scored an emphatic win in the schoolboy section of the 10 mile time trial organised by Merseyside Ladies Cycling Association this weekend.
Edmund (15) who rides for St Helens CRC had a winning margin of one minute 20 seconds over his nearest pursuer after recording a time of 25.31 in very blustery conditions on the Rainford Bypass course.
Edmund next goes in the Prescot Eagle '10' on the same venue this Saturday.
Also riding the Eagles event will be top St Helens racing cyclist Andrew Tinsley. The New Brighton CC man has just retuned from a few days racing against top continental opposition in Holland and Belgium, where Andrew's top finish was fifth in a road race won by his training partner Dave Williams from Southport, a member of the professional Ambrosia squad.
